General Description

Halcrow China Ltd (formerly Halcrow Asia Partnership Ltd) is the East Asia Regional Office of the Halcrow Group employing about 200 staff and offering a wide range of engineering services. Halcrow China Ltd, with the support of the Halcrow Group where necessary, can provide expertise in every aspect of civil engineering, to undertake each stage of a project from concept through design to implementation.

 

 

Fields of Specialisation

  • Feasibility & Planning Studies: for infrastructure developments including highways, railways, site developments, long span bridges and tunnels.
  • Geotechnical Services: concerned with bridges, roadworks, landfill site, site formations, tunnels, land reclamation, slope failures and foundation works.
  • Highway and Railway Works: commissions have included the design and supervision of construction of roads and railways, complex drainage systems, utility installations and traffic impact assessment and management.
  • Tunnels: Preliminary investigations of tunnel options and detail design of bored rock tunnels and cut and cover tunnels in reclaimed ground.

Typical Projects

  • Castle Peak Road Improvement: Detail design of highway improvement of approximately 9 tely 9 km of dual two-lane carriageway at grade or carried by retained embankments and viaduct
  • East Rail Extension - Tai Wai to Ma On Shan: Design of the new Tai Wai Station and enabling works for property development, as well as reprovisioning of the transport interchange outside the existing train station.
  • Blackhills Tunnel: Detailed design of four 6 Blackhills Tunnel: Detailed design of four 6 m diameter rock tunnels with a total length in excess of 9 km, and associated shafts, adits, central siding and crossover tunnels and portals. The tunnelpass under Black Hill between Yau Tong and Tiu Keng Leng station and form part of the Tsuen Kwan O Extension Project for the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway.
  • West Rail Western Section: Technical studies to establish the feasibility and constructability of selected railway alignments, comprising 11 elected railway alignments, comprising 11 km of double track on embankment and viaduct and the arrangements of 5 related stations with property developmen
  • West Rail Permanent Way: Technical studies for the permanent way design of a new 53.5 West Rail Permanent Way: Technical studies for the permanent way design of a new 53.5 km of standd gauge double track electrified railway conveying both freight and passenger services.
  • Lantau Fixed Crossing: Project Management of the link from Tsing Yi Island to Lantau via the 2000 Lantau Fixed Crossing: Project Management of the link from Tsing Yi Island to Lantau via the 2000 m long Tsing Ma Bridge and the 500 m long Kap Shui Mun Bridge and asciated viaduct.
  • Landslip Investigation Consultancy - GEO: Inspection 1997 landslide incidents and the preparation of detailed study report for selected incidents (including forensic studies for 2 major landslides).
  • Geotechnical Advisory Service: Inspections of over 100 slopes and general advice to the Hong Kong Housing Authority on specific geotechnical matters.
  • In-Town Check-In Facilities: Design of air passenger services at Central and Kowloon Airport Railway Stations.
  • Airport Expressway, Rail Link and Roads: Design of 2.6 ads: Design of 2.6 km elevated road, 1.6 km rail and 37.5 km at-grade roads at Chep Lap Kok Airpor
  • Lam Tin Site Formation Projects: 42 ha site formation including 5M3 m3 of excavation in soil and rock, drainage works, highways and structures.
  • Tsing Yi and East Lantau Tunnels: Design of over 5 d East Lantau Tunnels: Design of over 5 km of rock tunnels passing through Tsing Yi and Lantau Island for the construction of the new Airport Railwa
  • Tolo Harbour Catchment Sewerage Scheme: Design and construction supervision of new sewerage system for 45 villages in the New Territories.
  • Lantau Ports: Design of reclamation and infrastructure for Container Terminals.
  • Landslip Prevention Measures: Several commissions to GEO to investigate and design stabilisation works to over 140 slopes and retaining walls in Hong Kong.
  • Shum Wan Road Landslip - GEO: Design and construction, supervision of stabilisation works.
  • Road Testing Programme: Assessing Residual life of the primary highway network of Hong Kong utilising FWD testing.
  • Engineer Inspections to Slopes: Commissions to HyD, LD and AFD to prepare Engineer Inspection Reports and maintenance manuals for over 4000 slopes and retaining walls.
  • Integration of Man-made Slope into their Surroundings - GEO: Recommendations in a Guidance Document for softening the visual impact of man-made slopes.
  • Route 7 - Section Between Kennedy Town and Aberdeen: Preliminary design of a new 7.2 Route 7 - Section Between Kennedy Town and Aberdeen: Preliminary design of a new 7.2 km dual three lane expressway including major viaducts, cut and cover tunnels, depressed road, footbridges and marine work
  • NENT Landfill Project: Independent Consultant for the design, the works, the operation and the aftercare of a domestic waste landfill site of 40 million m3 capacity.
