The Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) was formed in Australia in
1970 after the completion of the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme and is
now one of the 100 largest engineering consultancy firms in the world, having
undertaken more than 2,000 projects in 62 countries. Areas of expertise
include hydro-electric power, dams, tunnels, highways and transportation,
water resources and geotechnical engineering.
